PLEASE VISIT YOUR NATIVE PLACE ONCE AGAIN . . . . . .   PLEASE VISIT YOUR NATIVE PLACE ONCE AGAIN . . . . . . .  .  PLEASE VISIT YOUR NATIVE PLACE ONCE AGAIN . . . . . .   PLEASE VISIT YOUR NATIVE PLACE ONCE AGAIN . . . . . . .  .

JALAMITHRA FOUNDATION

We welcome you to revisit your native place and the Govt. School, where either you / or your elders have had early studies. We always feel proud of our childhood days and sweet memories of our native place, where ever we are on this globe.  Now the time has come for revisiting that school and extend our mite, to provide a glass of safe drinking water to the kids, studying in that school.  Those kids are not asking us for heaven, but a glass of water.

Where ever we are, we hail from some village or other in this state of Andhra Pradesh.  Now, hundreds of students from not – so – well to do families are going to govt. school(s) in that village.  Whether the government imparts quality education to them or not, let us help provide some safe drinking water to those students atleast to survive the onslaught of the contaminated and polluted water.

We have taken up this mission of equipping rural government schools with safe drinking water units  with the blessings of Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayana who is trying his best to wake up the ever "Sleep pretending"  political & administrative system for better tomorrow of our society.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh recently found out – to its utter astonishment – that 65,000 Govt. owned rural schools out of nearly 75,000 do not have any drinking water facility, let alone safe drinking water.   Lakhs of kids from Class 1 to 10, who are going to the schools depend on near by canals, tanks, borewells, streams for drinking water purpose.  Needless to say, the water is thoroughly contaminated.  In practical terms – no difference between cattle and human beings.

This pathetic situation is not limited to our state alone.  All states, without exception face more or less similar situation.  This grim scenario, getting worse by the day made the Govt. of India wake up, which have decided to equip each and every Govt. rural school in the country with “stand alone” safe drinking water supply unit at a basic cost of Rs.40,000/- per unit.  Govt. of India also decided to release this amount as a 100% grant – for implementation by the State Governments.  During the last financial year central govt. has released Rs.200 crores to all the state govts. in the country proportionately.

Even after two years of receiving the central grant, it is yet to take off in our state.  We can safely assume the reasons.  One being that this exercise is non-attractive and non remunerative to the implementing machinery.

Here is the right space and time for us to step in for a great cause.  Your small gesture provides great solace to the lakhs of school going children and particularly hundreds of them in your native place.

The concept of this mission is very simple.  If a Telugu NRI / or those who can afford comes forward to provide safe drinking water facility to the rural govt. school in his / her native place – there is no need for the govt., which, any way cannot deliver the goods. We are here to help you provide the safe drinking water unit to your school.

This safe drinking water unit will serve not less than 5 years.  We take that responsibility.

This is the Unit:

Stand Alone Water purifier with Ultra Filtration

This is a 3 stage water purifier consisting of 5 micron pre-filter, activated carbon filter or Iron removal resin filter and polymeric hollow fiber ultra filtration membrane.

Salient features:

  • Filters dissolved and precipitated Iron and micro organisms in water.
  • Works on tap pressure of 1 to 2 mts head.
  • Discharges 100 -150 liters per hour with just 1-2 mts head.
  • No electricity is required.
  • No moving parts or wearable parts.

With this unit, we get bacteria free water (every drop) flowing from the tap any time. So, no need of any storage tank for clean water. This unit, first of its kind in the country, is being widely used in Tamilnadu under Central Government sponsored scheme. During 2009 - 2010, 2400 schools were equipped with this unit. In the present financial year, another 2400 schools were identified.

Cost of the Unit:

The basic cost of the unit is Rs.22,500/-. The cost of 500 Lts., raw water storage tank is Rs.2500/-. Installation & civil work etc., Rs.5000/-. Maintenance of the unit for 5 years Rs.2500/-. Hence, the total capital cost of the unit is Rs.32,500/-. We request you to try to find out the present drinking water position in the school(s) of your village. If you feel the need of providing a pure and safe drinking water unit in that school, please contact us. We will do the rest. The details of installations in schools will be displayed every month on this website.
